The body found in Vacquières, north of Montpellier, is indeed that of the Dutch vacationer who has been missing for a week

Le corps de la septuagénaire a été retrouvé ce lundi 22 juillet, au matin, dans une zone escarpée, à environ 1 km du camping où elle séjournait.

The disappearance of a 73-year-old Dutch woman since July 14, in Vacquières, north of Montpellier, had a sad epilogue this Monday, July 11. The body discovered in the morning, in this town located on the border of Hérault and Gard, is indeed that of Marjan Roozendaal. The findings made by the gendarmes specialized in identification confirmed this. The septuagenarian, suffering from Alzheimer's disease, had left the Parc Le Duc campsite where she was staying, and had not given any sign of life since.

Discovery in a very steep area

It was a member of a Dutch association, specialized in this type of search and who came to participate in the combing operations, who discovered the body of the vacationer. It was located about a kilometer from the campsite, in a very steep area, difficult to access. The Lodève gendarmerie company, which covers the area, indicates that the hypothesis of an accidental death is favoured at this stage of the investigation.

Significant search resources

Since 14 July, and the alert given by her relatives, significant resources had been deployed by the gendarmes to find the missing person: searches by helicopter using thermal cameras, tracking dogs, searches coordinated by the gendarmes, involving the septuagenarian's entourage, local residents, hunters, and even Hérault associations.
