The Canadiens will begin their western journey in Calgary without Brendan Gallagher

UPGRADE DAY

The Montreal Canadiens begin a four-game road trip out west on Thursday night when they face the Flames in Calgary and there will be one notable absentee: Brendan Gallagher.< /p>

Number 11, who was missing from Wednesday's training session, is hampered by a lower body injury and his case will be re-evaluated. No other information about him has been specified by the organization.

The Habs will be counting on this trip to rally the troops and find the path of victory after an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at the hands of of the San Jose Sharks last Tuesday at the Bell Centre.

Despite their ambitions this season, the Flames aren't doing too well these days, claiming a 5-4- 1 in their last 10 games, against 6-4-0 for CH. It's been particularly difficult for their big acquisition of the summer, Jonathan Huberdeau, who has settled for 12 points in 19 games so far.

With goaltender Jake Allen having his share of troubles, we can guess that Samuel Montembeault could be sent into the fray on the Montreal side.

Hoffman remains on the sidelines

In the afternoon, the Habs placed veteran Mike Hoffman on the injured list, while Rem Pitlick was recalled from the Laval Rocket.

Hoffman is plagued by a lower-body injury and will miss the entire Canadian. This season, he has five goals and three assists in 16 games. For his part, Pitlick will join the Montreal team in Calgary. He is looking for a first National League point in 2022-23, having been held in all seven previous meetings.
