“The Consent”, at the origin of the case Matzneff, will be brought to the screen

Consent, book Vanessa Springora revealing his relationship under influence, with the French writer Gabriel Matzneff when she was a teenager, will be brought to the screen by 2021, announced on Monday the producers Carole Lambert and Marc Missonnier.

This autobiographical novel has sold more than 180,000 copies and has caused a shock in France. Vanessa Springora tells the story of how, in the 1980s, she was seduced by Gabriel Matzneff, 36 years her senior, when she was not yet 14 years old.

The day after the book’s publication, in early January, the French judiciary had opened an investigation for “rape committed on a minor under 15 years of age”.

The realization of the scenario of this film have been entrusted to the director Vanessa Filho, revealed in 2018 at the Cannes film Festival with angel face, presented in the un Certain Regard section. The cast is not yet determined.

The work of Vanessa Springora describes a man in predator behaviour, making of sex tourism in Asia. Ms. Springora is the first to testify, teenage girls seduced by Gabriel Matzneff, whose behavior, as described in his own books, has long been tolerated in the literary world of paris. In 2013, he was awarded the Renaudot literary prize of the trial.
