They were all there, especially the Lunellois, to honor the Gabriel-Péri course, “their” cours Gabriel-Péri.

Inaugurated this Friday evening, September 13, a lucky day for this ambitious project, there were nearly 400 people occupying the now pedestrian artery in the heart of the city and listening to elected officials and institutions who came to highlight, in their remarkable and noted speeches, the success of this metamorphosis act II born of the will, “of the courage” we even heard, of the municipal team of the Soujol mandate.

A peaceful space where the bond is woven social

The mayor began this formal time to shine this achievement, "this Cours Péri as we had imagined it: a peaceful, pleasant space, where social ties are woven and maintained. A now attractive Cours Péri which is part of the visionary project of profound transformation supported by the elected officials".

Alongside the deputy Charles Alloncle, the secretary general of the prefecture Frédéric Poisot, the senators Hussein Bourgi and Jean-Pierre Grand, the departmental councillors Paulette Gougeon and Jérôme Boisson, as well as the regional councillor Sylvie Thomas, Pierre Soujol recalled the ambition to make this main axis of Lunel "a pedestrian and green living space, a Lunel-style art of living", ending his speech with a “Long live Cours Péri, long live Lunel!” widely and proudly applauded by the audience.

“Péri is yours!”

Substituting her sash of departmental councilor to that of assistant for public works, Paulette Gougeon thanked the technical teams and companies for their hard work and respect for the schedule.

Addressing the traders and citizens, the elected official praised their patience during the difficult period of the works, concluding his speech with a "Péri is yours! " which took on its full meaning that evening.

Existing now at its true value

Representatives of the municipal children's council, president of the consular chambers, heads of associations, mayors and deputies of the Agglo mingled with the directors of the companies that worked for this Gabriel-Péri course which now only asks to exist at the true added value that the municipality has been able to give it bring.

The launch of the illuminations to highlight, in every sense of the word, this even more emblematic place of Lunel preceded the aperitif offered to the audience by the municipality on the notes launched on Gabriel-Péri by DJ Michael of Net Music.
