The crowd of big days and beautiful people for the inauguration of the Alain-Barrandon school in Sussargues

Après une vaste cure de jouvence, l'école L'Ensolelhat portera désormais le nom de celui qui l'a inaugurée il y a 40 ans.

It was with a certain pride and real emotion that Mayor Eliane Lloret presented to the 250 people present, the personalities who came to participate this Saturday March 2 in the inauguration of the ;Alain-Barrandon elementary school. Patricia Mirallès, Secretary of State to the Minister of the Armed Forces, François-Xavier Lauch, prefect of Hérault, Sophie Béjean, rector of the academy of Montpellier and many other personalities including many mayors of neighboring towns, honored the municipality with their presence.

Energy and climate issues

"We were pursuing two objectives by launching the work, with my team, in May 2022, declares Mayor É liane Lloret: renovate and expand this L’Ensolelhat school, inaugurated 40 years ago by Alain Barrandon, then mayor of the town."

The installation of photovoltaic panels and the strengthening of insulation have thus made it possible to aim for a reduction of more than 70% in consumption in response to the energy and climate challenges of the moment. And the creation of two additional classrooms to accommodate new residents as well as self-service for the catering section. The first deputy Jean-Luc Blaché and Cathy Metz ensured most of the monitoring of this work. Finally the enlargement of the courtyard, its dewaterproofing and its revegetation were monitored by Brigitte Volpato, sustainable village assistant.

Teacher and mayor

On the financing side, the overall budget amounts to 4,595,000 € subsidized at 40%. (The State contributes 22%, the water agency 3.5%, the CAF 5.8%, the metropolis 4.3% and finally the department 4%). This renovated school will therefore bear the name of Alain Barrandon. A teacher since 1975, he was appointed director in 1985 until his retirement in 1996. Mayor of the town for five terms, he led, with his teams, numerous projects, preparing the village for the evolution that we know about it.

The name Ensolelhat preserved

Alain Barrandon, absent today due to health reasons, will be comforted, let us be certain, by the countless messages of sympathy which were sent to him this Saturday.

The name Ensolelhat will be retained to identify this district bringing together schools, the library and the nursery.
