The sudden death of a paramedic of 24 years, on December 27, 2017, in the sector of Saint-Jean-Chrysostome, Lévis, was caused by a prolapse of the mitral valve, a cardiovascular disorder. This natural death was preventable, according to the coroner Julie Langlois.

Hugo St-Onge has lost his life while he was in his joint. The ambulance took 17 minutes to arrive on-site.

According to the coroner, the quality of a medical act and of the follow-up of it- after a syncope in 2016 – is to be revised.

It also recommends that the ministry of Health and social Services to review the staffing paramedics on the territory of Lévis.
