“The driver fell asleep”: at least 9 dead and 26 injured in a bus accident in Turkey

Au moins 9 personnes sont mortes dans un accident de bus ce 9 août 2024 sur une autoroute en Turquie.
The accident occurred at around 5 a.m. (4 a.m. in France) under a bridge near Ankara in Turkey on August 9.
At least 9 dead and 26 injured
A bus coming from Eskisehir, located in the center of the country, hit head-on the pier of a bridge on a highway near Ankara, the capital, public television reports TRT.

At least 9 people died in this terrible tragedy, according to a provisional report. According to the governor of the Turkish capital, Vasip Sahin, 26 people were also injured in the accident.
"No brake marks"
Several vehicles and emergency personnel were mobilized to the intervention, specifies the TRT channel which interviewed the governor of Ankara: “There are no traces of braking at the scene, which suggests that the driver may have dozed off”.
An investigation has been opened.
Last May, 10 people lost their lives and 40 were injured in a bus accident. Their vehicle had collided with two cars and a truck near Mersin.
