"The elderly deserve better!" Nursing homes and retirees on the streets for real "aging well"

Around a hundred retirees and nursing home staff from Gard demonstrated on Tuesday, September 24 in the streets of Saint-Jean-du-Gard.

"The elderly deserve better!" It was behind this banner that a hundred people, retirees, families and caregivers, gathered in the streets of Saint-Jean-du-Gard on the morning of Tuesday, September 24.

A law that is not applicable ?

An unusual demonstration following a national appeal by several nursing home federations, to demand a "real implementation application" of the so-called “aging well” law, promulgated last April and intended to improve the living conditions of nursing home residents following the scandal targeting the Orpéa group.

"The government has validated measures, but without the means to follow, castigates Anne-Gaëlle Goubin, director of the Soubeyran residence, in the same municipality. There is a lack of recognition for caregivers, whose jobs are very difficult, and budgets to implement what the law recommends."

Several establishments, located in Vigan, Anduze or Lédignan, have joined the mobilization.
