The youth prevention and citizenship center of the Gard national police organized this Monday, April 15, an operation to combat school bullying at the Vallon gymnasium in the Pissevin district. A way to encourage young people to respect others.

This Monday, April 15, the youth prevention and citizenship center of the Gard national police (CPCJ) organized a morning to raise awareness of school bullying in the Vallon gymnasium at the Jules Verne college in the Pissevin district. "It’s a lot of interactivity, explains Frédéric Palumbo, director of the structure, created in 2021 by the National Police . We are here to help young people find arguments in the event of harassment and find help", he continues. The association regularly organizes this type of action through a more global framework of collective reception of minors.

Every Wednesday afternoon and during school holidays, the young people registered practice sporting or cultural activities, supervised by police officers trained in entertainment. "We have more and more demand from families. It reassures parents to know that their children are safe", specifies the chief brigadier. In addition to playing games of futsal during these Easter holidays in the presence of Mathias Nieps, Deputy Prefect of Gard, the children will enjoy a day in the Cévennes to visit the Trabuc cave and the bamboo grove. ;nbsp;as well as an outing to Spirou Park.

Beyond an animation mission, the association strengthens prevention among young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods as part of the "Minimes de la  Republic" and proposes "accountability measures" as alternatives to school exclusion. An agreement with the Academic Director of National Education Services (DASEN) and the National Police (DIPN) allows the prevention center to intervene in all colleges in Nîmes. Raising awareness about incivility and offenses committed is also carried out with driver facilitators from the transport company Tango Trans-Dev.

National education also contributes by providing premises in the Jules Verne college. A procession of actions notably supported by the "City Contract" which includes the State, the Department and the city of Nîmes. But the objective is also to show another side of the police to these young people. "We are working on raising awareness of the police profession and the prejudices that young people may have about it. This sometimes arouses vocationss", concludes Frédéric Palumbo.
