The first cold snap of the season is coming: a maritime polar air mass will cause a sudden drop in temperatures

Autumn is fast approaching and the next few days are expected to be cold in France. The Hexagon will be affected by a significant drop in temperatures.

End of high temperatures for this year. Rain, wind and cold are making a comeback this week throughout France. According to Chain Météo, a mass of maritime polar air will hit France from Iceland.

As of this Wednesday, September 11, a mass of polar air will therefore appear in France. As explained by Chaine Météo, the weather will be unstable and cool, and widespread showers will occur over three quarters of the country.

21°C at most

Snow could even fall from 1800 meters in the Pyrenees, while wind gusts should reach 100 km/h in the south-east. And the forecasts are not going to improve: this Thursday 12 and Friday 13 September, the weather will also be cool and unstable according to Chaîne Météo. The wind will blow on the Mediterranean coasts and the plains will be subject to a risk of white frost.

Morning temperatures should not exceed 12°C and in the afternoon, it will be at most 21°C throughout France. Temperatures corresponding rather to the end of October. The Hérault department will nevertheless be the one where it will be the least cold in France this Friday, September 13.
