BAIE-COMEAU – Baie-Comeau, a forty firefighters forest are busy always to extinguish a forest fire that began Friday night, between route 138 and the lake to Hunt.
For the moment, the SOPFEU indicates that the fire has been contained and it has burned about six hectares of forest. A helicopter is also on site to assist the fire fighters in the forest.
“We got the alert late Friday evening last, and planes-tanks have worked,” says Mélanie Morin of the SOPFEU.
“The fire was contained the next morning and it is on the premises since that time. Now, we are working toward the inside to extinguish hot spots. It may take a few more days with the indices of flammability and the current drought. This is the reason why a quarantine of firefighters in forestry are on the scene,” says the information officer.
