The French handball team easily won against Argentina in Montpellier during its first friendly match of the week

L'équipe de France de handball a facilement disposé de l'Argentine (32-23), jeudi 14 mars à la Sud de France Arena, pour le premier de ses deux matches amicaux de la semaine.

The reigning European and Olympic champion started his international week very well in Montpellier by beating the Argentinians, before facing Egypt on Saturday after- noon (4:15 p.m.), still at the South of France Arena. 

Faced with an Argentina a tone below, Guillaume Gille's men were already ahead by seven goals at the break, in particular thanks to a good first period from Hugo Descat (4/6) on its left wing.

The French coach then turned things around in the second half, with the same efficiency on the wings in particular, with 5 goals from Dylan Nahi. 

Vincent Gérard returns

This Thursday's meeting was also marked by the return of Vincent Gérard (12 saves) within the French team, he who had not previously most played with the blue jersey since March 11, 2023 during a Euro qualifying match against Poland. 

Now in Istres after not being retained by his Kiel team following his return from injury (adductors), the French goalkeeper is also applying for selection at the Olympic Games with Rémi Desbonnet (7 stops Thursday evening), Charles Bolzinger (in the stands) and Samir Bellahcene (injured).
