The autopsy carried out on the body of Rose, the five-year-old girl killed in the Vosges, “made it possible to exclude facts of anal and vaginal penetration”, indicated Friday the public prosecutor of Épinal .
“Additional forensic analyzes” are still necessary to establish the causes of death, prosecutor Frédéric Nahon said in a press release.
The body of the little girl was found Tuesday in a plastic bag inside an apartment in the town of Rambervillers (Vosges), a few hours after her parents reported her disappearance to the police.
The suspect, a 15-year-old boy, already indicted for rape of a minor last year, was indicted for the murder of a minor under the age of 15 and remanded in custody, after two days police custody during which he remained silent.
An expert concluded in a provisional report “to the existence of an alteration of discernment and to its dangerousness for the others,” said the prosecution.
As part of the first procedure, the suspect had been placed in a closed educational center for one year, the maximum possible duration, between February 2022 and February 2023.
Since his return to Rambervillers last March , he was subject to an obligation of care and training, under the supervision of the Judicial Protection of Youth. Mr. Nahon stressed Thursday that the young man respected these obligations and was on a cooking course.
The affair spilled over into the political sphere, with Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne calling it a “terrible tragedy”.
“Depending on the investigation, all the consequences will have to be drawn,” she said on France 2.
On BFMTV and RMC, the president of the Rassemblement national Jordan Bardella denounced a “bankruptcy of the State” and an “overly lax justice”.
The Secretary of State for Children, Charlotte Caubel, who spoke to the family of the victim, considered that “legally, there is no failure” in this case.
