This would only be a matter of hours before the déconfinement athlete during finally allowed in indoor facilities, including arenas, to resume the service. The good news awaited could be announced as early as today.
According to the information obtained, the arena could open their doors starting Monday, June 29. The details about this imminent announcement have, however, been able to be confirmed with the government.
Sources, without deciding on the time of the announcement, evoke, however, is good news “imminent” in this folder that should progress quickly.
Recently, the gymnasiums, and schools of hockey have been part of the stakeholders who have advocated repeatedly in favor of the déconfinement in the practice of indoor sports.
“It is almost sure that it will happen. I am studying various plans for the summer and an advisor to the minister Isabelle Charest has been clear with me, saying to me : wait until tomorrow, you’ll have a very good news,” said the Journal Christopher Bedard, of the hockey School of the Capital.
The distance would be lowered to one meter between young people of 16 years or less and maintained at two meters between the coaches and adults. Even the contacts would apparently permit, for a maximum duration of three seconds, according to the different echoes that circulate.
Enough hanging around
The bell sound is similar on the side of the school of Power Skating Julie Robitaille, in the Mauricie region.
“I have had the same information and one can only hope that the announcement will take place tomorrow (today). It’s been several weeks that we are working on it and talk about it. With the recent announcements of déconfinement interior in cinemas and elsewhere, it becomes ridiculous not to déconfiner arenas and the sport interior. It is important to be patient, but it does not want to be the turkey of the farce”, said Julie Robitaille.
At the time of writing these lines, the office of the minister Charest has not responded to interview requests from the Newspaper for knowing the details of a possible announcement regarding the déconfinement of indoor sports. Impossible for the moment, therefore, to know if the gyms and other infrastructure will also be affected positively.
In the Face of the uncertainty of the last few weeks, some schools of hockey have had to turn to plans B to be viable. This is the case of the hockey School of the Capital, which is studying the possibility of offering its customers a true ice outside, under a tent, with refrigeration system.
“The plan remains the opening to the interior, but the other option, it is a real ice, in the parking lot of PEP. The submissions are made and everything is approved by the government,” said a delighted Christophr Bédard.
Now all that remains is to feel the pulse of the customer as to whether she would be at the rendezvous on the surface of 50 by 100 feet, compared to the traditional surface of 85 by 200 feet.
“Even if the déconfinement inside confirms, it does not mean that I would not go forward with this plan at the same time. People may be intrigued at the idea of playing hockey outside. The school would become the only one in Quebec to offer such a product, which is not an exterior surface synthetic. It could offer a nice alternative”, he continued.
The project would require significant investment, of the order of 100 000 $.
