The Growlers still dominate the Lions

Growlers dominate Lions again

The Trois-Rivières Lions were once again eclipsed by the Newfoundland Growlers, Wednesday at the Colisée Vidéotron, this time losing by a score of 6 to 1.

Marc-André Bergeron's team has a 1-5-0 record against its Maritime rivals since the start of the campaign. During these meetings, the Lions conceded 31 goals and scored only 16.

In today's duel, Alberta forward Orrin Centazzo put on a show, a few hours after having was demoted by the Toronto Marlies. He scored a hat-trick and helped out Brennan Kapcheck, who also scored four points.

Jack Badini and Brett Budgell completed the scoring for the mighty Growlers , who rank first in the ECHL's Eastern Association.

Even though he stood out at several points during the game by making impressive saves, Quebecer Philippe Desrosiers flinched six times on 34 shots.

Defender Jason Horvath opened the scoring for the Trois-Rivières team in the first period. He showed patience in puck possession before upsetting 2022 Hobey-Baker Trophy winner Dryden McKay.

The setback comes after back-to-back wins over the Adirondacks Thunder. However, the Lions will have the chance to recover, as they will face the Growlers in St. John's next Friday and Sunday.
