LAVAL | The minister of Transport of Québec, François Bonnardel, said Friday morning the development of a ramp aerial, in order to directly connect the highway 440 West and highway 15 North in Laval.
A major accident having caused the death of four people and having 15 wounded, occurred on August 5, 2019 on this stretch of problematic highway 440 West.
The work for the addition of this ramp is expected to begin in 2023 for commissioning by the end of 2024.
During the commissioning of the bypass air, the ministry of Transportation will be closing the exit 22. This allowed for vehicles to join the highway 15 and boulevard Chomedey in Laval, in order to improve the flow and safety of travel.
In the coming months, work will also begin for the addition of an exit to highway 15 North.
The cost of these works may not be disclosed for now as not to influence the bidding process in progress, has specified the minister Bonnardel.
Following the accident of August 2019, François Bonnardel had been promised rapid changes to improve the safety of motorists who use the A-440 in the westbound direction at the height of the highway 15.
