Even though there has been an overall decrease in emergency room visits across the province, the health care system is hanging by a thread, warns Dr. Judy Morris.
“We survive because the province is on pause, and because we are at very high percentages of load shedding,” explains the president of the Association of Physicians of urgence du Québec.
According to her, if people on the ground may seem less busy, and the numbers are not as high as they once were, it is not necessarily a good sign.
“You have to remember that it comes with the cost of depriving people of certain care they need, surgeries, screening tests and with a province that is essentially on pause”, underlines the specialist.
