Open seven days a week and without an appointment, the doctors at this new center will take care of “minor” emergencies, which will help relieve some of the pressure on hospitals.

Three emergency physicians and three nurses, also experienced in emergencies, are ready to receive patients seven days a week (from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.) in a brand new building with five treatment rooms and a radiology room starting Wednesday, August 28. “Setting up in Sommières in a rural area, where patients have to go to Montpellier or Nîmes for emergencies really makes sense,” explains Maxime de Wit, one of the three doctors who are leading this innovative project of 1.70 M€.

Between saturated emergency rooms, overwhelmed general practitioners and while more than 11% of the population does not have a primary care physician, this center will make it possible to take care of “minor" non-life-threatening emergencies and trauma. “The firefighters and the Samu are aware of it. If the case is more serious, we manage a hospitalization directly without going back to the hospital emergency room,” assures Maxime de Wit.
