The representatives of the OPH tenants will be able to welcome, inform and support the public and consult between associations.

Defend, listen and above all support. This Tuesday, September 17, Mayor Robert Ménard and the director of Béziers Méditerranée Habitat, Magali Bordja, accompanied by the four representatives of the partner associations (*) inaugurated the brand new Maison du conseil et de la concertation locative, located at 2 rue des Minimes, a stone's throw from the Orb.

In these former La Poste premises, long abandoned, "and where we even found the old postal safes when we started the work", Magali Bordja says with a smile, some 80,000 euros were injected in order to completely renovate the premises and offer the associations offices worthy of the name.

Offices allocated by drawing lots

The said offices, "allocated by drawing lots so as not to cause jealousy", will thus host the offices of representatives of UFC-Que Choisir, Asseco Oc Pyremed – CFDT, Familles de France and the CLCV (Consumption, Housing, Living Environment), elected in November 2022 for four years by the tenants of the OPH (Public Housing Office).

"All social landlords must provide offices to these approved associations. The previous one consisted of a slightly dilapidated premises in La Devèze, which we will recover to transform into housing. The location of this Council House seemed relevant to us because it is just a stone's throw from the Daniel-Cordier Community Life Center,", continues Magali Bordja.

Talking with OPH tenants

A job exchange, so to speak, but for tenants, who can find a lot of information there, whether it be on the regularization of charges, rent increases, as well as practical information on the passage of containers or the procedures for changing accommodation.

“It's a great achievement, confirms Houria Chachoua, the representative of Asseco. Very practical for receiving tenants”. “And it will also allow us to see each other more regularly and to consult before the OPH board meetings”, added Aïcha Hainouss, from Familles de France.

“It shows two important things, concluded Robert Ménard, president of Béziers Méditerranée Habitat. At the office, we are respectful of tenants and therefore of the organizations that represent them and we always favor dialogue. But tenants must solicit associations much more and assert their own rights".
