Plastic Bertrand parmi les artistes participant à cette tournée spéciale anniversaire ! – Yann ETESSE

The Top 50, the famous show born with Canal +,  celebrates its 40th anniversary, with a host of stars. "We all sing together", with an orchestra, says Marc Toesca. See you Friday, July 23 at Mont-Cotton. There are only a few dozen places left to reserve.

Marc Toesca, the iconic host of Top 50 (he hosted it for seven years starting in 1984), is on tour with equally iconic stars of the period to celebrate the show's 40th anniversary. On Friday, August 23, Mont-Cotton will host (probably a sell-out, there are about a hundred seats left!) Lio, Plastic Bertrand, Jean Schultheis, Sloane, Jean-Pierre Morgand, Caroline Loeb, Richard Sanderson, Kazero and Thierry Pastor, led by an ever-enthusiastic Marc Toesca and an orchestra. A few days before his arrival in Gard, the host answers to Midi Libre.

What does the Top 50 represent in your career ?

The show was born with Canal +. The first broadcast took place on the first day of Canal. So it was first of all the birth of Canal. The show was a hit. What I remember from it was a tremendous freedom. The artists had the same freedom. With the impression that everything was possible and all that in a good laugh. All these faces, all these smiles, the letters from P’tits clous, the viewers… when people talk to me about the Top 50, their eyes sparkle. What a wonderful time!

What energy does this tour carry ?

It's an anniversary, we're here to party! Many in the audience are rediscovering their adolescence. What an extraordinary time. For us too, it's a reunion. We're here to have fun. We've done about ten dates. The idea, launched last year with Pleins Feux organization, is the 40th anniversary of Salut les p’tits clous !

What flavor does this reunion have for you ?

These artists are people that I love. There is a real conviviality, memories, sometimes nostalgia. It’s the pleasure of meeting again that drives us. Artists don't worry. We exist but all together, whatever the origins and experiences of each person. Even those who have moved on. Some produced hits then had very different lives. Some have done musical production, directing, worked in the shadows.

The Laurent Comtat orchestra accompanies you.

It's a large group, with brass instruments, backing singers, dancers, very good musicians, Laurent Comtat on piano. Everyone worked on the pieces as originally. You'll see, it's great! Everyone sing!

What's your news?

In September, I'm tackling the fifth season of “Samedi d’en Rire”, a show broadcast on France 3 with Jean-Luc Lemoine . There too, there is laughter and nostalgia!

Friday August 23, opening of Mont-Cotton at 8 p.m. Prices: 10 euros, free for children under 13 (with proof). I subscribe to read more
