A bin to collect cans has been installed at the Saint-Exupéry sports complex in Bagnols. On June 19, the Knet Partage association will make giant Olympic rings from the collection.
The Knet Partage association, the City and the Rhone Gard conurbation come together for an ecological project linked to the Olympic Games: the creation of the five rings Olympics from collected cans. "We are in the Olympic spirit and it provides a reminder of the importance of selective sorting", comments Jennifer Obid, deputy mayor& ;nbsp;delegate for sustainable development. To carry out the project, a skip, made available by the Agglo, took up residence at the Saint-Exupéry sports complex, right next to the dojo and the hall boxing. 20,000 cans are needed to make giant rings.
Sports clubs mobilized
"The objective is to involve as many schools, sports clubs, associations, as possible in the project, of businesses, traders… We need to bring together all age groups to do something beautiful in this sporting venue, says Laurent Gautier, president of Knet Partage. Bagnolais residents have until Wednesday June 19 to bring cans to the dumpster. That day, the Knet Partage association will be present and will need reinforcement to crush and sort the 20,000 cans by Olympic ring colors. The afternoon will be devoted to the creation of the creative work. Local sports clubs (golf, boxing, table tennis, football, rugby, handball…) will offer the public discovery workshops.
Once the work has been completed, the cans will be taken back and recycled in a center in Nîmes. "It’is an interesting operation< /em>, underlines Patrick Profeta, the boxing club teacher. I am mobilizing four young volunteers from the club for this event. It will make them responsible." The first cans have already been placed in the dumpster thanks to the ’operation "La belle Cèze" organized on Wednesday by three students and Caarud users. Around fifteen bags of waste were filled, including two with cans.
Cans should not be compacted. They must be deposited during the opening hours of the sports complex (from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday to Friday, variable hours on weekends depending on sports competitions).
