The Knicks scored 10 unanswered points late in the game to win 100-93 over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night in a preseason game in New York.
The Cavaliers were ahead 93-90 with just over three minutes left in regulation time before the Knicks took complete control of the situation. Kevin Knox II made the difference with his five points late in the game, including a successful three-point shot that gave the Knicks the definitive advantage.
Knox II closed the game with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists. However, it was Julius Randal who led the New Yorkers with his harvest of 18 points. RJ Barrett also distinguished himself by amassing 18 points.
This is the second victory in three preseason games for the Knicks and their new head coach Tom Thibodeau.
For their part, the Cavaliers suffered their first loss in three preseason games. Andre Drummond shone in the loss with 18 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in 20:43 of play.
In Oklahoma City, Coby White scored 27 points to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 124-103 victory over the Thunder. The 20-year-old point guard, who was drafted in 2019 and has already played one season with the Bulls, added five rebounds and three assists to his record.
For the Thunder, Montrealer Lugentz Dort was shut off the scoresheet in 18:17 of play. He nevertheless managed two rebounds and as many assists.
In Phoenix, LeBron James and Anthony Davis played their first preseason game as the Los Angeles Lakers faced the Suns. Even if the two star players limited their playing time, the Californian team still won 112 to 107.
James and Davis contributed with 11 and 10 points respectively. Kyle Kuzma led the reigning NBA champions with a production of 23 points. As for former Toronto Raptors Marc Gasol, he registered three points, eight rebounds and two assists.
