The Last of Us series on HBO, Sony is ready to adapt its biggest video games

While Uncharted should (finally) have the right to a movie worn by Tom Holland, the video game The Last of Us will soon be adapted into a series on HBO. And obviously, Sony would have already many other ideas in mind for the future.

The end of Game of Thrones was probably the best thing that could happen to HBO. In the past few months, the american chain has filled the absence of the series of fantasy by new fictions as powerful as ambitious, that this is Chernobyl, Watchmen or even the crossroads of the worlds.

A new direction that makes the happiness of the public and that is not near to end. Despite the production of a first spin-off of Game of Thrones, HBO has just joined the Craig Mazin – the creator of Chernobyl, bringing to life an adaptation of a series of The Last of Us, the cult video game released in 2013.

A future series The Last of Us

Little information is yet known about the series (casting, release date…), but we already know that she will be faithful to the game. Co-written by Neil Druckmann – his dad, The Hollywood Reporter provides in effect that it “will cover the events of the original game with the ability to add content based on the new opus The Last of Us Part 2, due in may“.

So, for those of you who are not yet familiar with this universe post-apocalyptic world, get ready to follow “the relationship between Joel, a smuggler in this new world, and Ellie, a teenage girl who would be the key to creating a vaccine against a deadly pandemic.” And while Joel has the mission “to pull out the 14-year-old quarantine zones oppressive, “this mission will plunge “the duo on an adventure of a brutal, heart-wrenching, as it will cross the USA and will fight to survive“.

First draft of a long list

A very promising project which could even be only the first of a long list. In a press release, Chris Parnell, the co-president of Sony Pictures Television Studios – which will also produce the series, has just said : “This is the first of a multitude of series that we intend to develop with our friends from Playstation Productions.

And when we know that the catalog of Sony Interactive Entertainment includes franchises such as Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, God of War (!), universe perfect to succeed to the Iron Throne, or The Last Guardian, we can expect great things for the future.
