Animation behind the stove

A particular excitement reigns at the scene, explains Pierre-Antoine: "As it's a competition, we pay a little more attention. There's a bit of stress when you see all the cameras arriving. My apprentice Kyllian was also with us, and we did everything we could to ensure that it went well." Filming time, during November 2023, between multiple takes to be carried out and the course of the day, the television team remained all day from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

While careful organization was put in place in the bakery, Pierre-Antoine gives the outline of the preparation: "We were briefed on the program to follow and the tests that were going to take place. They taped everything up to hide all the brands present in the store. We worked closely with them so as not to disrupt the smooth running of the bakery and ensure customer reception."

An appreciable audience

Finally comes the arrival of the stars of the program, Noémie Honiat, finalist of season 5 of Top Chef in 2014, and Bruno Comrais, best worker in France in 2004. "They are very nice, it seemed like we were very close. We discussed the structuring of the establishment. It's still impressive to receive them, says the baker. With repercussions to be expected during such an exhibition, he concludes: "Of course, people come to see us to congratulate us and others out of curiosity."

The competition takes place over a week in the predetermined geographical sector, the Pech Gourmand bakery will try to qualify for the final when the show airs. The jury ultimately deliberates on several criteria: the aesthetics of the place, the signature bread, the favorite product and finally, the jury's challenge.
