The LFB Biomanufacturing group will double the volume of its Alès site

The group specializing in the production of protein and antibodies for the fight against rare diseases, laid the foundation stone of its Alès site this Friday, June 14. a future building which should make it possible to double its production on site.

The ceremony took place without Minister Catherine Vautrin, whose presence had been announced, but who certainly had to cancel her visit following the recent political upheaval.

This Friday, June 14, elected officials and representatives of LFB Biomanufacturing respected the traditional laying of the first stone for the extension of the group's Alesian factory. A 20 M€ which should allow, according to the company, to double its production capacities from here. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Development, and jobs

Created 30 years ago, the group specializes in the research, production and sale of therapeutic proteins created by cell culture. Medicines from living organisms for patients affected by rare diseases. The biomedicine sector, marked by strong demand, allows this investment in Alès where the site will be able to produce up to 4,000 liters of proteins per year. Ultimately, this expansion will be accompanied by the creation of around fifty additional jobs.

The construction of the Alès site, for LFB Biomanufacturing, is being carried out in parallel with the inauguration of its new Arras factory at the end of the year. This will allow it to "triple its production, and all while remaining in France”, according to the group's general director Jacques Brom.
