The maniac from the Laissac halls, in Montpellier, escapes yet another incarceration

Les policiers municipaux avaient été confrontés à un individu irascible. L'Indépendant – L'Indépendant

On Friday February 2, he fought with traders before insulting and threatening municipal police officers. He was sentenced to 24 months in prison, a sentence he will serve under an electronic bracelet.

On Friday February 2, at 10 a.m., Sylvain was already drunk when he went to the Laissac halls. A bad idea. Fifteen days earlier, he had fought with a trader who caught him urinating on the building. "I went to see him because my glasses had been broken, but they fell on me at four", explained the forty-year-old at the Montpellier criminal court, this Monday, February 5.

He was prosecuted for contempt, rebellion and violence against municipal police officers who were confronted with a deluge of insults and threats. "I'm from Figuerolles, I'm going to find you and kill you", he said to one.

At the police station, a police officer dodged a headbutt, a police officer was thrown to the ground and injured in the knee. "I may have gotten angry, I regret", said Sylvain.

He was appearing for other offenses, including an attempted theft in a retirement home in Saint-André-de-Sangonis on January 14, "three days after being released from his electronic bracelet", recalled prosecutor Jean-Christophe Tixier.

27th conviction

Before that, there had been the theft of an electric bike in Montarnaud, in June 2022, which he declared to have "resold for 200 €&quot ;. In April 2023, he stole shrimp from a supermarket in Gignac, before filling up with gasoline and leaving without paying. Crimes that he recognizes. "I didn’money", he explained.

He was finally convicted – for the 27th time! – the sentence requested by the prosecution: "24 months in prison including 12 suspended, obligation to work, care, and to compensate the victims". He will not return to prison, but will have to serve his sentence under an electronic bracelet. He will have to pay 3,600 € in total to the three civil party police officers, the violence against the fourth not having been upheld by the judges.
