From 2 to 5 may in Tbilisi (Georgia) will host the fifth festival of Ukrainian cinema “Ukraine in focus”. Will open the film festival Yaroslav Lodygin “dick pole”, the General media partner of which is the TV channel “Ukraine”. In General, planned to show seven feature film and four short films. The festival was made by the production company FX Film Georgia and JS Films.
“Ukrainian cinema is developing rapidly, which allows us to represent Ukraine to the world community, showing pictures of different genres and those that best represent the cinema of the Ukraine. Festival of Ukrainian cinema in Georgia has already become a good tradition, and celebrates the first anniversary – 5 years – so this time again we expect full houses, ” – said co-organizer Julia Sinkevich and Maria Moskalenko.
The event will open with a debut of the Director Yaroslav Lodygin – the movie “dick pole”, a television which will premiere this year on air of TV channel “Ukraine”. The tape, filmed on the novel “Voroshilovgrad” by Sergiy Zhadan, even at the production stage has collected a lot of prizes for pitching abroad, as a world premiere at the film festival in Tallinn.
Recently it became known that the film also won five nominations, Third National film award “Gold Jia”, in particular for best actor and cinematography.
The festival is supported by the State Agency of Ukraine on issues of cinema, the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia, the Georgian National film center, the Odessa international film festival and the Tbilisi city hall.
“We see continued interest by the Georgian side in the Ukrainian culture and cinematographic co-partnership. To promote Ukraine in the world, finding and establishing new professional relationships, cooperation and productive dialogue with long-term partners and we continue to support such events abroad “, – said the Chairman of Goskino of Ukraine Philip Ilyenko.
All screenings will be held in the cinema “Amirani”, admission by ticket. The films will be show in the original language with English and Georgian subtitles.
Recall that in 2018 annual film festival “Ukraine in focus” was opened by the Ukrainian-Slovak drama Mezha.
