The National 1 derby returns to Montpellier on its FDI Stadium floor, against Usam
In this regional derby, it was the locals who won the Grail after a fierce first half (32-24). The first two saves by the Nîmes goalkeeper on Ronan Diaz and Lucas Guigon set the tone for the derby (0-2, 3rd).
With each good defense, the Gard bench rose. The Montpellier timeout was quickly taken by Jérôme Diaz (3-7, 10th). The awakening was there. Defensively impervious, the MHB caught up to a length (6-7, 14th). The Nîmes grinta allowed the visitors to get back on track (7-10). In goal, Martin raised the barbed wire with 14 saves before the break and above all kept the MHB level with its rival (9-11).
In the second half, Becker-Fischer fired a shot into the top corner. Montpellier led for the first time in the game (14-13, 39th). They would not let go of the score until the end, extending the gap to +7 before winning (32-24). With this second victory, Montpellier joins the first half of the table and Usam the second.
