French Cup/5th round.

alès (n3)1

balma (r1)

Stade Pierre-Pibarot.

0-0.

Referee: Arnaud Baert.

Goal for Alès: Hamek (72nd).

Warning to Alès: Mouandhu (75th).

Warnings to Balma: Temmar (37th), Madou (68th), Castaing (81st).

ALès: Maamouch – Mouandhu, Dole, Missaoui, Traoré (El Koubaiti 78th) – Duvoux, Barut (Hamek 60th), Franco (cap., Fari 78th) – Diarra (Kubota 60th), Baana Jaba, Ekra.

Alès had to wait until the last quarter of an hour on Saturday to snatch a victory that was fully justified in the course of the match, against the regional team of Balma (1-0).

Played in light rain and on a slippery pitch, the game was almost one-sided with a resolutely offensive positioning for the Cévenols, opposed to a team playing excessively deep to let its opponents come.

The chances created in the first half were exclusively Alès with a first shot from Dole (5th). Served by Franco, Diarra came up against the opposing goalkeeper for his first intervention of the match before a shot from Ekra in the continuity of the action found the crossbar (16th). Only another volley from Franco, narrowly wide, is worth mentioning before the break (21st).

Two decisive goalkeepers

Already problematic to find, the spaces are reduced in the visiting camp after the restart. The young goalkeeper Eymeric Pelous, 18 years old, related to Fabien, the former captain of the French rugby team, shines on a free kick from Franco (47th) then on a header from Diarra (56th). The kid also makes himself respected in the air on another header from Hamek (72nd) but, on the restart, Traoré finds Franco who extends again on Hamek, who leaves no chance to the Balman goalkeeper (1-0, 72nd).

The visitors are affected but not sunk. They have the resources to come and worry the Gard defense in which Maamouch shines by pushing back or stopping everything, including a final shot from Léoni blocked at the base of his post (90th + 4).

The OAC coach Hakim Malek could appreciate: " I am very satisfied with the performance of my players who were able to produce play and put in difficulty a good Balma team that deserves better than the Regional 1. "
