The mayor of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, Jean-Yves Chapelet, and the territorial director of GRDF in the Gard signed this Monday, September 9, 2024 a partnership agreement aimed at supporting the energy transition and the decarbonization of buildings for tertiary use.
"The energy revolution is a fact" declares the mayor of Bagnols-sur-Cèze Jean-Yves Chapelet. The era of the oil boiler "is over". This is, in essence, the message that the elected official of the central city of Gard Rhodanien delivered this Monday, September 9, 2024. The elected official and the territorial director of GRDF in Gard, Yvan Le Labourier, signed a partnership agreement aimed, they declared, “at improving energy efficiency by integrating innovative and sustainable solutions”.
On the side of schools
This program is part of the national objectives for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, said the representative of the gas operator. The agreement between the town hall and the distributor aims to improve energy efficiency, he stressed. The Célestin-Freinet school group will benefit from geothermal heating starting this winter. Ultimately, the program will also be rolled out to the Jean-Jaurès and Jules-Ferry school groups.
Engineering assistance
Jean-Yves Chapelet welcomed this partnership with the gas operator.“What I liked about GRDF is that they don't try to sell you extra cubic meters of natural gas, even though the cost of this resource is reasonable” and this is despite the war in Ukraine. “GRDF helps us with everything that is engineering” emphasizes the mayor of Bagnols-sur-Cèze. The natural gas distributor offers support to the community for the insulation work of municipal buildings and their secure maintenance.
Energy bill
One of the issues of this agreement is of course the reduction of the energy bill, but not only that if we believe both parties. "We have contractual relations that lead us to regularly come and take stock with the communities to inform them on various subjects such as network maintenance and everything related to it in terms of security. We distribute natural gas. We are not suppliers. We support communities when they have projects, specifies Yvan Le Labourier. We have set up support with the municipality of Bagnols-sur-Cèze with a design office in order to study the feasibility of both conserving gas and at the same time providing a real complete renovation on three school groups."
