(Green Bay) Davante Adams caught three of Aaron Rodgers’ four touchdown passes and the Green Bay Packers crushed the Tennessee Titans 40-14 on Sunday night.
The Packers (12-3) were already guaranteed to win the North section of the National Association and they could finish first in the association if they beat the Chicago Bears (8-7) or if the Seattle Seahawks. (11-4) lose against 49ers of San Francisco (6-9).
On that snowy evening, the Green Bay troops were helped by AJ Dillon’s 124 rushing yards and two touchdowns as well as Aaron Jones’ 94 rushing yards.
The Titans (10-5) wasted an opportunity to win the American Association Southern Division title for the first time since 2008. They can recover by beating the Houston Texans (4-11) next week. .
Adams’s three touchdowns brought his tally to 17 this season, just one off the Packers’ record set by Sterling Sharpe in 1994. Adams caught 11 passes for 142 yards and leads the NFL in receptions good for a major.
This game showed why the Packers want to play the entire playoffs at Lambeau Field. They have lost three of the last six finals of the National Association abroad.
The Packers’ defense also played well, intercepting two assists from Ryan Tannehill, who saw just 11 of his 24 overhead attempts grabbed for 121 yards. Titans running back Derrick Henry amassed 98 yards on 23 carries.
The Packers, who posted their fifth straight win, led 19-0 on a Rodgers touchdown pass in the team’s first three offensive streaks.
