The pinkish classic of the classics

Le rosé classique d'entre les classiques

Castle The Tower of the Bishop, Côtes de Provence 2019, Petal Pink

20,80 $ – SAQ Code: 425496 – 13,5 % – 2 g/L – Organic

I hesitated before making this rosé is my wine of the week. The Petal Pink of Régine Sumeire has made so many followers on our market for the past 30 years that in making the recommendation I gave the impression to break down an open door. But exclude it for the same reasons I paraîssait an error. All the more that the wine, despite its status as “senior” to the directory of the SAQ, has nothing of viellot or dusty. On the contrary: this vast property of the Côtes de Provence is rather good for its time, converted to organic farming for several years already, with an employment of infusions and biodynamic preparations on some of the plots.

In the glass, we find the delicacy and purity usual, though the wine is a little shy at the opening. After half an hour of aeration, the aromas reveal themselves with more nuances, between the melon, mint, peonies, with accents of contrast that evoke the sea spray. Well quite refreshing to be consumed with an aperitif but it will also make a very good companion to shellfish, salads of fennel and other seasonal vegetables grilled. A classic, yes. And with good reason.
