MONTREAL – The preliminary work for the development of the place of Montreal will put in motion these days around the metro station Champ-de-Mars.
Several steps are required to create this new space located near the CHUM and Montreal city hall, including the deconstruction of the pedestrian tunnel Field-of-March and its four niches.
A new air link will replace the existing infrastructures and allow universal access between the station Champ-de-Mars and Old Montreal.
The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) driver parallel work relating to the sealing membrane from the station as well as various other repairs.
We should remember that it is the team formed by the firms in Lemay, Angela Silver, and SNC-Lavalin, which won the international competition of landscape architecture for the development of the place of Montreal.
It will be located on the new section covering the Ville-Marie expressway, to the west of the CHUM. The new university hospital has generated substantial public investment in the sector, while to the east of it is a facelift at Viger square.
The city hall is also in full makeover.
“This is another crucial step in the development of the future place of the City, a development project important to celebrate the contribution of women to our city, to reduce the effects of heat islands in the city centre and facilitate the accessibility to Old Montreal and city hall,” said Friday, Éric Alan Caldwell, head of the executive committee of the urban planning.
