The Primafresca postponed due to the inaugural edition of La Contemporaine de Nîmes

La fiesta la plus festive de Nîmes devait se dérouler du 5 au 7 avril.

You will therefore have to wait one more week to participate in the Primafresca 2024 edition. Due to the Contemporaine de Nîmes (April 5 to June 23, Editor's note), a new triennial of contemporary creation supported by the City of Nîmes, the famous festive event is postponed to the weekend of April 12.

An accumulation of events

"The Primafresca was delayed because there was a build-up of events over the first weekend of the month of April", explains Corentin Carpentier, manager of the bar Les Enfants denîm, one of 16 partner establishments. Expanded to include rue de l'Etoile, Maubet and Thoumayne, in addition to rue Fresque, the Primafresca system is organizing its own Olympic Games this year.

Decided by the City of Nîmes, this postponement follows the holding of a boom on Saturday April 6 in the arenas. An evening that aims to be a flagship event for the municipality to promote the contemporary art triennial. "We submitted the file at the beginning of February. This is a small communication problem between the festivities and commerce departments. The town hall met with us to ask us to postpone the event. ;a week of the Primafresca, which we did to avoid having too many events at the same time, continues Corentin.

"A tradition and bullfighting side"

Beyond the Olympic events: pétanques, espadrilles throwing, café pony races, darts and sumo fights, at the same time, a new edition of the ;Printemps de l'Aficion will take place in the streets of Nîmes, from April 7. "It gives a traditional and bullfighting side to our weekend", smiles the manager of the bar on rue Fresque.

To avoid any problems regarding flow and crowd management, the Primafresca will therefore be organized from Friday April 12 to Sunday April 14.
