The Quebec comply with the health rules, but shun the mask

Social distancing, hand washing and cough etiquette, but not the mask: these are the health rules that have been adopted by Quebecers, according to a survey released Friday by the canadian medical Association (CMA).

The survey, conducted by The Observer, revealed that 93% of the respondents have adopted the toussage in the elbow, 95 % of the social distancing and 70 % the washing of the hands since the beginning of the pandemic.

However, they were only 42 % have adopted the mask in public places, the measure is still considered to be the most effective to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19, according to the scientific community.

In the 18-34 age group, only 27 % of them wear the mask in public places, while 87% consider themselves not to be at risk of developing severe complications related to the disease.

“The reality today is that we are far from finished with the COVID-19, and it is necessary to use all possible measures to avoid a second wave even more devastating than the first”, has indicated by way of a press release Abdo Shabah, an emergency physician and member of the Board of directors of the AMC.

The survey was conducted between 13 and 17 June, with 1,000 Quebecers on the panel weighted the company The Observer. The margin of error is 3.2 %, 19 times out of 20.
