"It's the music that allowed him to come back", recounts Corinne Rinatti with passion, professor of History-Geo and cultural referent at the Saint-Stanislas institution in Nîmes. "Andrée Julien (figure of the Nîmes resistance, Editor's note)  sang at the top of his lungs under the noses of the Nazis while she was locked up in the Ravensbruk camp. It was singing that kept her alive during this period.

Transmitting the notion of commitment

For twelve years, Andrée Julien, a resistance fighter from Nîmes, arrested and deported to Ravensbruck, worked hand in hand with Corinne Rinatti, coming regularly to meet 3rd and 2nd year students, to tell them about her experience. His history. In the big story.  "I had read several articles about her, she fascinated me, this mixture of humility and of gentleness. I wanted her to meet my students, to recall her memories with them and to talk to them about the great actors in history that she encountered . And above all transmit this notion of commitment, this love of the homeland. And allow college students to walk with a committed woman. Which in my opinion is the best way to learn history."

A short film in his honor

From these regular meetings, from these nourishing exchanges, vocations were born. Like Axel Arnaud, a former student who studies history and geography who hesitates with a political career and who will pay tribute with a speech this Friday in Saint-Sta' ;#39;. A young man who had also participated in the writing and filming of the film Bleu-blanc-rouge, screened in particular in 2020 at the Jardin & nbsp;de la Fontaine as part of A director in the city.

A large-scale project which saw the light of day thanks to the testimony of Andrée Julien, "who made students into transmitters of memory. "She welcomed us into her home, with all her little things… She opened her blue white red heart to us. With her love of the homeland, she gave us the common thread of our project, built from our passions, history, literature, cinema and our talents (writing, singing, dancing, music, fashion design). , curiosity…). This allowed us to have an extraordinary experience, learning about the cinema profession, from writing the script to directing and post-production. However, it was in front of the camera that we discovered ourselves, too
well us than the others"
, then wrote the 21 third participants in the project.

A precious tribute

This Friday, January 26, in the presence of Andrée's family, Veterans and Jean-Paul Boré, the educational team of Saint-Stanislas, l&#39 All the students will attend the inauguration of the establishment's conference room in his name. An exhibition signed by his friend Gérard Lattier will allow you to discover the colorful memories of the Second World War. And then all the students will sing a cappella La Marseillaise, then the 3rd and 2nd will sing the Chant de partisans, "dear to the heart of Andrée. This is our way of committing to her.
