“The Salon de l’Agriculture could be a partner”: the great ambitions of the Salon des Agricultures Méditerranéennes after its first edition

What is your assessment at the end of these two intense days in Villeveyrac ?

I am inevitably tired, and also inevitably happy. The first ones are always bets. We succeeded in this one. It is the result of collective work between Midi Events, Sète Agglo and all partners. Everybody was there. This is important. We often talk about agriculture when there are crises. During these two days, we communicated positively. We have done good between the agricultural world and the population, especially when we see the number of children in the aisles. It’s this idea of transmission that is important.

Does the success of the event lie in its popular, festive and accessible side to as many people as possible ?

We wanted an agricultural festival, to make it accessible to everyone, young or old, families or professionals. I think everyone was able to find what they were looking for. The feedback from exhibitors is very good. Everyone feels that we have done something important that didn't exist. There are always adjustments to be made. But the bet of having bet in Villeveyrac was successful. We see that this made sense in geographical and legitimacy terms. I saw nothing but smiles for two days. And it feels good in these complicated times that our country is going through.

Is this linked to the popular affection from which the agricultural world benefited during its movement of anger, a few months ago? ;?

The attendance at the Salon effectively shows the passion that the French have for their agriculture. I would like to remind you that the protest movement had 85% support from the French population. Visitors showed this love during these two days.

After this first edition, what is for you the future of the Salon des Agricultures Méditerranéennes ?

We are fortunate in the department of Hérault to have Jérôme Despey (President of the Chamber of Agriculture of Hérault), president of prestigious International Agricultural Exhibition. Jérôme and I started releasing explosive tracks for next year. The International Agricultural Show could be a partner. We have our sights set on a great project for next year. Our Salon will grow. The idea is that it persists over time and develops. Agriculture is beautiful and it was expressed in a beautiful way this weekend. It’s the Salon of a passion, a profession and a territory.
