The shisha bar “La Capitale” in Mauguio riddled with bullets and set on fire by several hooded and armed individuals

Les faits ont lieu dans la nuit de lundi à mardi 16 juillet aux alentours de 3 heures du matin. Aucune victime n’est à déplorer.

A mind-blowing scene! On the night of Monday to Tuesday, July 16, around 3 a.m., several hooded and armed individuals rushed into a car and fired into the front of the bar. chicha La Capitale, located at 154 rue Georges-Guynemer in Mauguio.

They then threw molotov cocktails to set the establishment on fire, before fleeing in their vehicle. According to our information, no victims among the customers and employees of this lounge bar have been reported.

Like at the Mirage last April 4

The investigation was entrusted to the gendarmes of the Lunel company and resembles the attack on the shisha bar Le Mirage, located at 2  650 avenue de Maurin in the La Croix d’Argent district in Montpellier, occurred on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, April 4, around 2 a.m.

That morning, two hooded individuals armed with rifles burst into this establishment. After threatening those present, they ordered them to leave.

Then they doused the inside of the bar with petrol before setting it on fire. Their vehicle was found burned out shortly afterwards in the Tournezy district, not far from where the crime had taken place.

The perpetrators vanished into thin air

While there were no injuries to be deplored, the material damage inside the shisha bar was colossal.

Given the seriousness of the crime, the investigation was entrusted to the local judicial police department, which has since been unable to trace the suspects.

Already burned down a year ago

It should also be noted that, almost to the day, the La Capitale hookah bar was the target of a fire. On July 12, 2023, at around 5 a.m., the person in charge of the premises alerted the emergency services after noticing that a fire had broken out on the roof of his establishment.

After reconnaissance, the Hérault firefighters, who quickly brought the flames under control, noted that the fire had started in the false ceiling, suggesting a criminal act.

Entrusted to the gendarmes of the Lunel company, the investigation has still not identified the person or persons authors.
