Since Thursday January 25, the date the A9 motorway began to be blocked by Gard farmers, the town of Bezouce has been plagued by very irregular road traffic… not to say catastrophic! We take stock.
"From Friday the situation was already hellish", says Antoine Marcos, mayor of the small Gard commune since 2014. Due to an unprecedented road situation since Thursday, January 25 and the blocking of the & #39;motorway A9 by farmers and the FDSEA of Gard, "we find ourselves with hundreds of trucks passing through Bezouce every day", continues the mayor of the village located a few kilometers to the north -west of Nîmes.
A situation that should not exist
Between the two northern and southern entrances to the town, the road is too narrow for cars to pass at the same time. "You can imagine if two trucks entered at the same time ? It's quickly catastrophic", underlines Antoine Marcos, disillusioned.
The latter hopes that a diversion from Beaucaire, further north, will be put in place quickly so that this type of incident no longer occurs. "I will contact the prefect so that things move forward and that a real diversion is put in place in the future".
This Sunday, January 28, the situation was calmer with less dense road traffic than in the last 48 hours. "But until when ?", asks the mayor of the municipality with some 2,500 inhabitants.
