DAY

The old theater in Parc La Fontaine, in Montreal, had a facelift and presented its new colors to the general public on Thursday, under the watchful eye of the mayor.

Closed since 2014 due to renovations, the Théâtre de Verdure in La Fontaine Park reopened its doors to the public on Thursday evening with an opening show by Ballets Jazz Montréal.

With a capacity of With 2,500 seats, the theater is ready to welcome the public in its new guise for a much-awaited programme, with some twenty shows staggered until August 26. Spectators can, among other things, be lulled by the Orchester métropolitain de Montréal in July.

Inaugurated for the first time in 1956, the Théâtre de Verdure closed in 2014 for major renovations, due to its “advanced state of disuse”.

After several consultations, the Lemay firm was given the mandate to design its new identity, in order to “modernize” it and “reflect the identity and heritage values of the place”.
