The industry of tourism attractions has requested on Wednesday in Quebec city to clarify its intentions on the timetable for the reopening of their sites.
Events, Attractions, Quebec, which represents companies of event management in addition to zoos, aquariums, parks and recreation, was deemed imperative to provide predictability to its members and to support them financially for their economic survival.
“We need emergency financial support from the government, has indicated by way of a press release Paul Gosselin, executive director of the Granby Zoo. If there are many or few customers, we must maintain our infrastructure, pay our taxes and continue to pay our other fixed costs.”
The association explained that its members wanted to prepare its employees in the best conditions, this is why she needs to know the deadlines that are promised, but it regretted that the sector it represents is not part of the political priorities.
“The public health seems primarily concerned about the movement of inter-regional as some of the major attractions could bring within the quebec population,” added François G. Chevrier, general manager of Events and Attractions in Quebec. This premise is penalising for over a hundred sites, often smaller, which can only accommodate their clients in local and regional”
The provincial government announced last week a first phase in the calendar of de-confinement on the tourism industry in quebec.
