MONTEVIDEO | pandemic coronavirus continues to make progress in several countries in Latin America, in particular the crossing on Sunday, a threshold of 15 000 dead in Colombia, and a record of contamination in Peru.
In Bogota, the colombian ministry of Health has announced that the authorities had registered 287 deaths over the previous 24 hours, bringing the balance sheet total 15 097 dead since the virus was first detected in this country on the 6th of march.
The British account, on the date of Sunday, 468 332 cases of contamination. This country of 50 million inhabitants is the fourth in Latin America in terms of the number of deaths and of contagious diseases.
Peru announced on Sunday, have recorded more than 10 000 new cases in 24 hours, a new record after the one from the day before.
The peruvian ministry of Health has reported 10 143 new cases, for a total of 535 946 since the beginning of the pandemic. The day before, 9501 contamination had been recorded.
The new deaths are the number 206, which carries the balance-sheet total in Peru 26 281 deaths, according to the ministry.
Ecuador, one of Latin american countries most affected, with more than 100 000 cases said on Sunday, as other countries, its intention to manufacture vaccines against the COVID-19.
“Ecuador also has the capacity to manufacture vaccines against the COVID-19, same as Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico, who have expressed their interest to produce it”, said in a press release the minister of Health, Juan Carlos Zevallos.
Latin America and the Caribbean is the world region most affected by the virus, with over 6 million infections recorded.
