The winner of the Stanley Cup and brought the trophy… on his grandmother’s grave

Обладатель Кубка Стэнли привез трофей... на могилу бабушки

Traditionally after winning the Stanley Cup, the playoffs of the National hockey League (NHL), all hockey players-the victors have the right to bring the trophy to their homeland. Was no exception and the Czech capital Prague, where the forward of the Washington capitals Jakub Vrana.

Arriving in his hometown, the player appeared with the trophy in the historic district Staré město (formerly the Stanley Cup came to Prague twice — in 2006 it brought the player “Carolina” Joseph vasicek, and in 2008-m — Detroit red wings goaltender Dominik Hasek, but in town for everyone to see the Cup could not stand), and then visited the grave of her grandmother, who died shortly before the start of the playoffs NHL.

I note that the cemetery is not the original place where visited in its history, the Stanley Cup. So, for example, in 1986, he swam in the pond Patrick Roy, in 1994 the players “new York Rangers” dragged won the trophy in a strip club, in 1996 the player “Colorado” Sylvain Lefebvre christened the Cup his little daughter. Also, once the prize has to go on the mountain height of 5500 meters, where it skidded Vice-President of “Colorado” mark Waggoner, and in 2000 the trophy, founded by Lord Stanley of Preston, along with goaltender Martin Brodeur went to the cinema which was filled with popcorn.

Let me remind you that twice in the Stanley Cup visited in Ukraine: both times, in 2004 and in 2009, it was brought to Kiev, Ruslan Fedotenko, won the trophy with “Tampa Bay lightning” and the “Pittsburgh penguins”, respectively.

won the Stanley Cup.
