A 17-year-old girl died after sinking in the waters of the Magog River mid-afternoon Tuesday in Sherbrooke.
It was a passer-by who called 911 after seeing the roof of the Toyota Yaris car protruding from the water, in the middle of the Magog River, in the Rock Forest area.
A rescue operation from the Sherbrooke firefighters was necessary to extricate the teenager from her car which was submerged.
Resuscitation maneuvers were carried out and she was taken to hospital where unfortunately her death was pronounced.
Investigators from the Sherbrooke Police Department are conducting an investigation to shed light on this tragedy.
For the moment, the hypothesis of voluntary action is favored.
