The default policy for Windows 10 is to use the option “high performance” in which the operating system can cache writes to the external device, increasing the speed of data transmission. Use “safely remove hardware” ensure the completion of all cached operations, protecting data when the disc is ejected – that’s the whole secret of the operation.
In Windows 10, now there are two modes of operation with removable storage: “Quick removal” and “Optimal performance”. Starting from version 1809 in Windows 10 is the preferred first option, unless otherwise determined by the user.
