How was Med Reconversion born?

I first created Nurse Retraining four years ago, because there was a very, very big need. The idea is to offer support programs to assess skills and develop. Over the years, I realized that the discomfort extended to all caregivers, particularly doctors. That’s when I founded Med Reconversion.

What support is offered?

The biggest difficulty is the ability to mourn the loss of one's profession. When you are a doctor or nurse, our profession equals our identity. There is a very strong feeling of belonging. Sometimes, this is what is most complicated in the change process. Our support focuses on this. We identify whether it is the profession or whether it is the conditions and means that we are given to practice that pose a problem. A 2 and a half month program is put in place. A coach will follow and support the professional. Former nurses for nurses, former doctors for doctors.

What is the objective?

Help them take stock of their career and define a professional project for the next ten years. A project that will be fulfilling and meet their professional and personal needs.

What are the profiles of doctors who drop out?

There are no typical profiles. We have very young doctors, even medical interns on the verge of giving up and doctors who are 10, 20, 30 years old, in the profession who tell us: “I want meaning in my professional life and I can't take it anymore. There is a real uneasiness which is beginning to take hold. Doctors dare to say: “I can't take it anymore and I'm looking for how I can evolve”.

What are the main reasons for retraining?

The attrition, the inadequacy and the growing gap between the reasons why they chose the profession of doctor and the conditions and means given to practice it in the field . Doctors often tell us: “My daily life is to talk about, treat and heal about humans and they answer me money, budget, profitability.” The heart of the problem is there.

How many doctors have you supported in 1 year ?

150. We were overwhelmed, we didn't expect so much. The challenge in 2024 is to make ourselves known to midwives and physiotherapists because the needs are also important.
