“There was panic on board”: strong winds, cancelled flights… a family on holiday stuck in Madeira

En vacances au Portugal, une famille française s’est vue contrainte de rester cinq jours supplémentaires sur l’île de Madère. Des vents violents clouent les avions au sol.

After a three-week holiday in Portugal, a French family was unable to return to Paris due to strong winds that ground planes, reports Le Parisien.

Their Transavia flight, scheduled for Thursday, August 15, 2024 from the island of Madeira, was cancelled for this reason, as were those of at least five other different airlines.

Canceled or diverted flights

Contacted by Le Parisien< /em>, Transavia assures that "the price difference with the flight Transavia will be covered, as well as accommodation and meals. Taxi between their accommodation in Madeira and the airport will also be covered."
