These projects which will punctuate the start of the school year and the end of the year in Nîmes

Many construction sites will continue in Nîmes from the start of the school year in September, in particular the Maison de l'entreprise, the Palais des congrès, but also on the roads and of course at the level of the Uzès cadereau to fight against flooding.

Many construction sites launched before this summer will continue, even intensify from September in Nîmes. For associative or economic actors, these constructions are even eagerly awaited. An update on these major achievements.

The delivery of the Sports Hall

For this flagship achievement of the Nîmes municipality, which is the pride of mayor Jean-Paul Fournier with the drapery on the façade signed by the artist Alain Clément, the town hall announces a possible occupation of the premises by the eighteen sports associations from Friday, September 27.

At the end of this summer, it will take three weeks of assembly for the apparatus for example, fine-tuning the interior, and leaving nothing to chance so that the transfer of the clubs, from the Costières stadium, to the Halle des sports of more than 8,000 m2 goes as well as possible. Several associations will also go to the Espace Création, a renovated site, opposite the Philippe Lamour high school, from the first part of September.

Cadereau d’Uzès : the tunnel boring machine at work

Inaugurated on July 8 and named Claude Jordane, the tunnel boring machine, this impressive machine, will allow the creation of a hydraulic development of the Uzès and Limites cadereaux. The construction site installed at the intersection of Sully and Pierre Sémard streets since last November will evolve. It involves recalibrating the cadereaux, multiplying the hydraulic capacities by ten as part of the Papi III (Flood Prevention Action Program) Vistre for an investment of 37.5 million euros.

The boring of the Uzès tunnel should be completed at the end of the year, that of the Limites aval tunnel in July 2025 for these first phases of the tunnel boring site. A titanic work that will be completed in 2027.

The major municipal project of the Palais des congrès does not go unnoticed, just a stone's throw from the arenas and just behind the Musée de la Romanité. For over a year, work has been in full swing, this year with the pouring of the ground floor slab.

The remaining task, starting this fall, is to make the site watertight and airtight before carrying out the finishing work (partitions, networks, floors, ceilings, painting). 130 workers will be working on the site at that time. The building is expected to be delivered at the end of 2025.

The Maison de l’entreprise, a sustainable building

On Boulevard Salvador Allende, the Maison de l'entreprise is really taking shape, a project dear to the Gard Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The new headquarters of this organization, labeled Bâtiment durable Occitanie level Gold, is progressing rapidly to be completed at the end of the year. AMG Architectes, NM2 architecture and the Pascual architect studio have designed two eco-responsible buildings.

The Maison de l'entreprise will be inaugurated next June, while staff and students will have moved in a few months before.

The Coupole renovated before the arrival of Galeries Lafayette

Before the summer, Socri Limited announced a second phase of work on the La Coupole shopping centre for a budget of €9 million, with projects designed by A+ architecture and Aura. The work began in mid-June and is due to be completed in the fall of 2025.

It includes the renovation of the main entrance on rue Général Perrier, the requalification of the vertical connections with the installation of new escalators that access the Galeries Lafayette (opening in the fall of 2025), and the complete restructuring of the commercial level above Les Halles.

The huge urban renovation project

This fall, things are speeding up in Pissevin as part of the urban renovation to change the appearance of the neighborhood by 2026 with the demolition of the Puccini viaduct, the nibbling away of the Pollux building before bringing down Castor, its neighbor, at the end of 2025. There is also talk of removing the old Crous building from the landscape, demolishing the Wagner gallery, the media library, but also of building the GGL building in Kennedy and another to the south at the Porte des arts with work starting this fall.

In Valdegour too, there is activity in particular to gradually demolish the Avogadro tower, a project normally completed by the end of the year. Urban renovation will also concern Chemin Bas d'Avignon and Mas de Mingue this fall.

Other works will continue, such as those on the Léo Rousson school group at Clos d'Orville (students will be welcomed there after the 2025 spring holidays), and on roads, particularly near Les Halles and on the Route de Sauve (thanks to a great agreement between the City and the Department with the participation of the Agglomeration).
