They demonstrate against the project to create the A69 in front of the “Maison de ma Région”, in Béziers

As in front of different regional establishments, around ten members of the "Biterrois collective supporting Squirrels" expressed its refusal to see a motorway built between Castres and Toulouse, this February 26, in front of the "Maison de ma Région", on the Allée Paul-Riquet. 

Certainly, the construction project for highway 69 (A69), which is to connect Toulouse to Castres, launched last spring despite several appeals from environmental associations, does not concern not directly the territory of Biterrois. But the fight and the anger of opponents, environmentalists and others, rebound throughout Occitanie. Among others, up to Béziers. 

This Monday, February 26, at 10 a.m., around ten members of the "Biterrois collective supporting Squirrels" expressed his refusal in front of the House in my region, located on Allée Paul-Riquet. "No macadam", "Trees, not bitumen", "No to the A69" could we read on the signs.

"Our collective  was created for the occasion, explained Éric Lucas, one of the demonstrators. It is an informal gathering of Biterrois who show their support for the Squirrels, the people currently installed in trees, in the Castres region, on the route of the highway, to oppose the project."

And the opponent biterrois to specify: "This project, officially supported by the president of the Region, Carole Delga, n&#39 ;brings only nuisances to the landscape and the population. This is why we first sent a letter to the president to immediately stop the work in progress. And explain to him the reasons for our refusal."

Several other protests took place throughout the region.
