Trois policiers municipaux ont sauvé une mère de famille, âgée de 39 ans, après un feu dans la cuisine d’une maison, ce 24 juillet, en fin d’après-midi à Saint-Gilles.

Around 5:15 p.m. this Wednesday, a call from a teenage girl alerted the Saint-Gilles municipal police officers. This young girl is worried and upset. "She had just arrived home. She opened the door and saw smoke, described the head of the municipal police department. She was panicked. His mother who was in the house did not answer his calls. We went immediately to the scene." From the outside, we could see a little smoke, confirm his two other municipal police colleagues who accompanied their head of department on the site. When we arrived on site, the smoke was coming under the front door". The police will join them at the scene.

Flames in the kitchen

" The shutters were closed. And the mother did not answer our calls. Inside the house, the situation is worrying. There's a lot of smoke. The municipal police officers make the decision to progress into this dwelling. " We continued to call. Then we heard a voice. She was in another room and allegedly fell asleep. She didn't understand what was happening. We grabbed her and walked her out of the house. And we cut off the electricity. We saw flames in the kitchen. Her daughter was in tears, testify the municipal police officers.

The mother who inhaled a lot of smoke is being treated by the firefighters. The victim, in relative emergency, will be hospitalized at the Carémeau hospital in Nîmes.

" It was our screams that woke her up, reports one of the municipal police officers. If we hadn't intervened in time, the firefighters told us, she could have died ten minutes later."

A frying pan being prepared caused the fire

The victim's daughter, who also inhaled smoke, as well as the municipal police officers will be taken care of on site by the emergency services.

The fire is of accidental origin. The mother had apparently prepared a frying pan in the kitchen before her daughter arrived and then fell asleep. Apparently, it was these fumes that caused the 39-year-old woman to feel unwell.

For security reasons, the municipal police officers of Saint-Gilles, who saved this mother, did not wish to be photographed and asked to remain anonymous. I subscribe to read more
